Current and Future Projects
The Old Town Hall (OTH) in Gravesend represents our largest and most important project to date. WCW is developing a number of projects that will be run on site, the first two of which took place in Autumn 2010:
KALEIDOSCOPE
- With funding from the Community Development Foundation, Kaleidoscope was a multi-faith project bringing together Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh participants to share religious and cultural learning, culminating in a special programme of presentations run by them at the OTH in November 2010.
WORK WITH GRAVESEND SEC
- A group of young people from Gravesend SEC took part in a project with a bell-ringing team from Chalk Church. The project ended with a special performance at the OTH.
TALKING HALLS - HERITAGE LOTTERY PROJECT
A successful heritage project proposal to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is in the recruitment stage, and will look into the history of the OTH, researching its factual history, as well as collecting local people's memories in order to create a booklet, web archive and exhibition in 2011/12. The project will also result in permanent interpretative signage for key spaces in the OTH, allowing all visitors to understand some of the history of the building.
