Past Projects

Trinity Resource Centre opened to the public in April 2006. Formerly used as a parish centre and by the NHS, the building is now available to the community of Dartford as a centre for meetings, parties and for office space. The re-modelling of the rooms, installation of disabled facilities (including a lift) and general upgrading was made possible by a generous grant from the government and the hard work of many people locally. Adjoining Holy Trinity Church, the Centre houses Dartford Citizens Advice Bureau and the North West Kent NHS training programme for Inter-Psychological Services, as well as an office for Whole Community Works.

The Tree Estate in Dartford is the focus for various community development initiatives, including a regular newsletter; a women’s fitness club (‘Women of Action’); and the ‘Team Zone’ – a project for children aged between 7 and 11, which aims to develop social awareness in a fun and safe environment. This work has now developed into a community forum that, as well as its social activities, provides a focus for working on local issues with the local Council, the MP and the Police. For the future, we are working with the local community to transform a dilapidated, underused and loss making community centre into an activities and resource centre.

What If...? is a project in Dartford High Street to help promote the arts within the community. As well as art exhibitions, What If…? runs workshops for young people and provides space for meetings and music practice. It also operates Art4Dart, a scheme that enables local schools, businesses or community groups who need the assistance of an artist/performer to make contact with a potential provider of the service they need.

What is OK is an outreach project at Bluewater regional shopping centre, through which young people involved with gangs are helped to explore alternative activities, with the aim of going on to training and employment. As a result, several youngsters are now successfully working in the retail sector at Bluewater.
